Australia’s most popular album is…

While rock has been off the main course in most countries, Australians indulged in nostalgia for a much-loved guitar band in 2014. The highest-selling album of the year looks set to come from none other than old stagers INXS, with a three year old collection of songs dating back to the 1980s.

The Australia Recording Industry Association does not release its official end-of-year data until early January, but Universal has been told INXS’s The Very Best is the biggest-selling album so far in 2014, undoubtedly driven by the success of the record-breaking miniseries INXS: Never Tear Us Apart.
